Duchy of Lancaster Merseyside supports ‘Ahmed's Big Build’

Ahmed's Big Build’ received generous support recently from the Duchy of Lancaster Merseyside, with £4,054 donated towards various elements of the extensive building works.

These funds will be used as part of the project to provide 12-year-old Ahmed with a new wheelchair accessible downstairs bedroom, wetroom and living space, with safe garden access to meet his needs.

The project requires £30,000 to be raised above the Disabled Facilities Grant and discretionary funding awarded for the project. These specific funds from Duchy of Lancaster Merseyside will provide doors and electrics to the new living room area, together with wheelchair friendly flooring; plus create levelled paving outside the new area for wheelchair access.

The adaptation works, which are well underway, will enable Ahmed’s daily care and medical needs to be met in a more manageable way, allowing him to be cared for safely and with dignity in his own home, fully participating in all aspects of his family life.
