Ella’s house adaptations

View the completed project for ‘Ella’s house adaptations’ here.

We are looking for funding towards house adaptations needed for our daughter Ella to be able to live and move around our home safely.  Ella is wheelchair bound and requires level access into the house, internal doors widening, thresholds lowering, a through floor lift, ceiling track hoists, a wet room and accessible bedroom.  The cost of the works is not fully covered by the council disabled facilities grant and so there is a short fall of £6,500.  Any contribution would be gratefully received to help with funding the rest of the project.

Ella is our beautiful 7 year old daughter who has a rare genetic condition and complex medical needs.  Ella was born with tetralogy of fallot which is a congenital heart defect which required open heart surgery at 3 months old. Around the same time Ella was diagnosed with west syndrome which entails uncontrollable epilepsy and severe global developmental delay. This has now developed into Lennox-gastaut syndrome. Along side this Ella also has skeletal abnormalities.  Ella is unable to sit unaided so she requires specialist seating, and she is unable to mobilise. She requires constant care for all her needs.

The adaptations will allow Ella to access her bedroom and bathroom safely with the use of a through floor lift and ceiling track hoists.  As Ella is getting bigger it is getting more difficult and unsafe to lift Ella and carry her up/down the stairs. These adaptations will make our day to day life so much easier and safer, and allow Ella to access more areas of the house.
