Last Blast For Sebby’s Space

SEBBY’S STORY – why we’re here….

Our beautiful son, Sebastian Anderson-Wenn Slater came into the world on 10th November 2013 ‘Remembrance Sunday’.

The birth was almost perfect until the very last minute when Fate stepped in and decided to change our paths.

‘Cord Prolapse’ is very rare. It meant that Sebby was starved of oxygen and stopped breathing. We are not sure how long Sebby went without oxygen, but it was enough to cause extensive brain damage and the consequences are that Sebby has Spastic Quadriplegia meaning all four limbs are affected.

Sebby is a glorious and very happy little man with a delicously naughty sense of humour and a steely determination which aids his progress no end.

‘Sebby’s Space' is an extension to our existing home. It will provide Sebby with a downstairs bedroom, wet-room, physio/family area, accessible entrance into the house and into the garden where there will be a patio and hydro hot tub. It will open up the current interior so Sebby can access the kitchen and/or see me whilst I'm in there. It will allow much needed space to continue his vital physiotherapy, space to put a Conductive Education table and chair (as used at his school), house his ever increasing equipment and create a roof structure strong enough to support a ceiling hoist system in both Sebby's bedroom and wetroom. Finally, and just as importantly, it will offer Sebby somewhere he can invite his friends – both able bodied and then chums, who like him, need disability access.

In 2019 we raised a whopping £80,000 of our £100,000 target, but sadly the pandemic meant four scheduled fundraising events had to be cancelled. The build has now started so we desperately need to raise the final amount.....

We hope you may feel compelled to help in some tiny way. Anyway you can.

With our heartfelt thanks,

Ann Wenn - The proud mummy of Sebby! X
