There’s great excitement at Rosie’s house, as the bath she has been so looking forward to using in her newly created bathroom has received a generous boost to its funding from Promise Dreams.
‘Rosie's accessible bedroom and bathroom’ project will create a downstairs bedroom and accessible bathroom for 10-year-old Rosie in what used to be family living room.
With the works now underway, the space is now a blank canvas, ready to be transformed. The chimney has been removed and the upstairs of the house is supported by new steels. A previous doorway has been blocked up, while a new window has been added in the area where Rosie’s accessible bathroom will be created.
A single storey extension at the back of the house is being built to accommodate the new living room, which will also provide level access for Rosie into the back garden.
The family have been busy raising funds towards the £40,000 shortfall required to meet the cost of the works, above the local authority funding awarded through the council. The £2,500 donation from Promise Dreams towards the bath will greatly help towards this target.
As Rosie’s parents advise: “Rosie's new bedroom will have plenty of space for a growing young woman and her bathroom will have a wash and dry toilet to help increase her independence, a height-adaptable sink with taps she will be able to use herself, and – the best bit – a fully accessible bath with a powered seat to lift her in and out safely.”
Rosie has enjoyed having a sneak preview of her new bathroom layout – seeing where her new sink will go, complete with electrics ready for powering it to go up and down!
Having already tested out the bath in the Astor Bannerman showroom, Rosie is looking forward to seeing it fully installed in her new bathroom in due course, as the build progresses.
