Our sincere thanks to Neil Payter Ocean Racing who will be taking on two enormous sailing challenges onboard his race yacht Cariberia.

This year Neil will be participating in the Lonely Rock Race, starting on 16th August 2020, onboard his Lucas 40’ boat Cariberia.

In association with The Royal Western Yacht Club and The Royal Victoria Yacht Club, the biennial Lonely Rock Race will start from the vicinity of Ryde in the Eastern Solent. The course heads to the Isles of Scilly, round the notorious Fastnet Rock landmark, back past the Isles of Scilly once again and finally finishing in Plymouth Sound.

But that is by no means the end of Neil’s challenges! As on 9th May 2021 Neil sets off in the OSTAR (Original Single-Handed Transatlantic Race) – sailing single-handedly 3,000 miles across the North Atlantic to reach Newport, Rhode Island, USA.

Neil will generously be supporting both Sullivan’s Heroes – towards vital home adaptation projects for the disabled children the charity is helping – and The Oakley Waterman Caravan Foundation – providing respite holidays for critically and terminally sick children and their families.  All funds kindly raised as Neil races his Fastnet Rock route this summer and his transatlantic route next Spring will be split equally between these two charities.
