‘Keira’s BIG Build’ Kiltwalk and THF raise funds

Our sincere thanks to The Kiltwalk in conjunction with The Hunter Foundation (THF), and to Keira’s friends for their recent support towards ‘Keira’s BIG Build’.

Emma and her daughter Millie, friends of Keira, recently undertook Scotland’s Virtual Kiltwalk to raise funds for ‘Keira’s Big Build’ home adaptations. The intrepid duo raised a fantastic £315 – which was generously topped up a further 50% by The Hunter Foundation to give an overall £472.50 for Keira’s fund.

Keira and her family are raising funds towards £50,000 required above the Disabled Facilities Grant awarded for the home adaptations extension project to create a downstairs bedroom and wet room with accessible shower for Keira.

As Keira grows older it is getting harder to get up and down the stairs whilst carrying her, aside from the dangers involved in doing so. Having her own space downstairs will greatly benefit all the family – and a new personal space for Keira will make so many positive changes for the 13-year-old.

The adaptations will provide a new bedroom, wetroom and improved living space to secure independent living for Keira once she reaches adulthood, together with a place where carers supporting Keira's needs will have all the necessary essentials to meet her care requirements.

Our thanks to all involved in raising these vital funds towards Keira’s new space – they are greatly appreciated and will make a lasting and positive difference to Keira’s life.
