DTD Charity supports the start of ‘Noah's independence and dignity’

We are delighted to see works for ‘Noah's independence and dignity’ project commence thanks to support from DTD Charity, together with a substantial award from a local benefactor.

The ground floor of Noah’s home will be internally reconfigured, with doorways widened throughout to allow full wheelchair access. The existing garage will be converted into a ground-floor bedroom and wetroom for Noah. In addition, access to the garden will be provided, helping to promote independence and dignity for the 9-year-old.

Noah’s parents advise the difference this will make to his life:

“Noah is a delightful young boy with Down's Syndrome and a spinal cord injury who requires complex care due to his ventilator requirements. He requires a wheelchair accessible ground floor, including downstairs bedroom and wetroom and hopefully also a garden, to gain some independence and to bring him dignity as he grows into double digits. An accessible property will enable Noah to develop and gain life skills that he simply cannot manage at present.”
