Thank you so much to Arco Clothing Centre Preston and all the employees of the company, for their recent fundraising towards ‘Filip’s journey to come back home’ adaptations project.
The team has been busy over the past few months, undertaking a range of activities including raffles, sales and competitions. These efforts have successfully raised an additional £3,195. Combined with generous £500 match funding awarded by the company, the team’s hard work has brought the total funds raised to an impressive £5,130.02.
Filip’s mother, Oliwia, a former employee at Arco Clothing Centre in Preston, is delighted to share that Filip has finally been able to leave the hospital after spending the past two years there due to the unsuitability of his previous home environment. Thanks to the newly adapted spaces that meet his needs, Filip is now happily settling into his home at last.
The funding provided through Arco Clothing Centre Preston has been instrumental towards the costs required to build the ground floor bedroom and wet room extension, complete with specialist equipment and ceiling track hoists.
These essential adaptations have created a safe and supportive environment for 7-year-old Filip, allowing him to return home after his lengthy stay in hospital, and be cared for safely and with dignity in his own home, much to his family’s relief.
Oliwia tells us:
“We were not able to live in our own home because it was not adapted and suitable for our son’s needs after he became ill.”
“Thanks to all the help that we had for the project, when it was finished it allowed us to come back home from the hospital and have a safe and suitable place for our son that meets all his needs.”
“The adaptations have allowed us to be all together in our own home after 767 days in hospital. It helped us to be a family again. It makes Filip’s home suitable for his needs and it helps us be able to take care of him.”
