Lyn, Angie & Gudrun's RiverSwim4Reuben

Very well done to the brave ladies who tackled the Jubilee River Swim on Sunday 10th June 2018 to raise funds for Reuben’s home adaptations project.

This challenging endurance event saw Lyn complete the entire 10km length in an amazing 4 hours and 3 minutes … thinking of Reuben on the last leg helped her reach the 10km mark!

Unfortunately Gudrun was unable to take part – but Angie completed a brilliant 6km – which was 1km more than her intended 5km target.

Reuben loves swimming so the ladies saw this as a great fit to to support funding a ‘Room4Reuben’ which will so help him and all his family.

The funds raised will provide Reuben with a downstairs bedroom with en-suite level access shower room and access to a safe and suitable garden to meet his physical and learning disabilities. These adaptations will make an enormous difference to Reuben’s life – he will have his own bedroom for the first time, and be able to access his bedroom and shower room independently without needing to be carried or supported on stairs which are a real danger to him.

Reuben will be able to access the shower much more easily than the current bathroom allows and his toileting needs will be met in a dignified way. As ReubenWoodsSupportNow1Reuben grows, the easy access shower room will enable him to develop independence with toileting and washing.

Extending the living space allows a downstairs bedroom to be built for Reuben, whilst providing enough space for his equipment, and a safe accessible garden space will be created so Reuben will not only be safe, but can develop more independence in his play with his siblings and friends.
